How long does a photo shoot take?

That all depends on how many locations, subjects, props, and wardrobe changes there are.  On average shoot takes about an hour.

Where do you shoot?

Anywhere within reason.  I’m always open to any ideas that my clients give me.  If you don’t have a place in mind, ask me.  I have a lot of favorite spots!   Most locations are outdoors, but in some cases (like bridal portraits) we may be able to book a location to shoot indoors.

What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable and conservative.  You can make it as casual or dressy as you’d like.  I recommend either solid colors or “neutral prints” (ie- nothing that distracts).  Colors can be as neutral or bold as you prefer.  Families don’t have to match exactly, but coordination is a great idea!

When can I see my proofs?

I do my best to have your images ready for viewing about a week after the shoot.

How does proofing work?

It’s all online.  I post all of the proof images in a special album and email you or call you with the link.  Proofs from bridal sessions are kept under password until after the wedding.  Images can be ordered and paid for online.  Prints will come right to your door!  If you order albums and other specially personalized products, I’ll work one-on-one with you.  When those products are ready, I’ll either deliver them or mail them to you.

Can I just get all my images on CD?

No.  All prints must be obtained through me via my online ordering system.  I use specialty print shops that are produce professional-quality prints.  I want you as my client to have the best available!  In some cases I might make available a CD of low-resolution images available for personal archival use or for sharing (ie- Facebook, blogs, email), but no print rights will be included unless express permission is obtained.  To keep print prices affordable, most photo shoots come with a print credit and occasionally I run special print discounts.

My package included a print credit or print package.  How long is that offer good?

Print credits (which are included with portrait sessions) are good for one month after the proofs are posted.  Print offers (which are included with wedding packages and some event sessions) are good for two months after the proofs have been posted.  Don’t worry!  I’ll remind you before the offer expires!

There’s a pose I remember you taking, but it’s not in my proofing gallery. Why?

When I select images to edit from my various sessions, I choose the ones with the best expressions, best lighting, and the images that are most flattering.  As my client, you deserve the best!

I plan on buying more prints in the future.  Will my pictures still be available after my initial print order?

Yes!  In most cases your pictures will be available for viewing and purchasing about a year after your shoot.  So those pictures from your family shoot back in February will still be available for Christmas cards in December!
